Brad Pitt’s upcoming Formula 1 film, F1, is generating significant buzz ahead of its release, thanks to its authentic portrayal of the racing world and involvement of real-life F1 stars. The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) and co-produced by seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, promises a thrilling and realistic depiction of the sport.

F1 follows the story of Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a retired driver making a dramatic return to the Formula 1 circuit with the fictional APXGP team. The film also stars Damson Idris as Joshua Pearce, a young talent mentored by Hayes. The ensemble cast includes Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Simone Ashley, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.

Filming took place on actual F1 tracks during live events, including Silverstone, Hungary, Las Vegas, and Abu Dhabi. Pitt and Idris underwent extensive driving training, with Pitt reaching speeds over 180 mph according to ESPN. Professional drivers Luciano Bacheta and Craig Dolby performed stunts, ensuring authenticity in the racing scenes.

A private screening of F1 was attended by Formula One stars Charles Leclerc, George Russell, and Esteban Ocon, along with their partners. The event highlighted the film’s close ties to the F1 community and its commitment to realism.

Lewis Hamilton played a crucial role in ensuring the film’s authenticity, providing technical consultancy and involving himself in the scriptwriting process. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer praised Hamilton’s contributions, stating, “Lewis keeps us honest.”

F1 is scheduled for theatrical release on June 25, 2025, internationally, and on June 27, 2025, in the United States and Canada. The film will also be available on Apple TV+ at a later date.

With its blend of high-octane racing, authentic settings, and star power, F1 is poised to be a major summer blockbuster, offering an immersive experience for both racing enthusiasts and general audiences alike.
